Welcome to prayer focus
Prayer Focus is a monthly series to help new and existing Christians grow in their faith through prayer
How do you spend your time?
I would encourage you for these next 2 months to consider how much time you spend doing these things v how much time you spend with God and seeking His guidance.
Watching the news | Reading your Bible |
Checking social media | Asking God for his guidance in your life |
Playing games etc on phone | Changing your lifestyle to include quiet times without music, tv game input to allow God to speak as you drive or walk. |
Avoiding Christian fellowship out of fear of covid or other reasons. | Talking to other Christians in GC or socially |
Pattern for January and February
Week 1: Jan 2nd and Feb 6th
- Choose a Bible passage to read e.g., a psalm, re read and meditate on or a short book e.g. The letters in the NT or Ruth.
Week 2: Jan 9th and Feb 13th
- Actively choose to do something new and nonmedia related e.g., a hobby that is creative.
- Look for ways to communicate with God through that time.
- E.g., gardening looks at nurturing, pruning and care
- Cooking/baking looks at getting the right ingredients as life also needs a good balance or we fall away
- The idea is that in the development of creativity we begin to think outside of the ‘social media generated box’ as we enjoy the feeling of achievement. (Maybe look at Genesis and consider what God created and its impact.)
Week 3: Jan 16th and Feb 20th
- Seek God in Christian music
- Listen and explore
Week 4: Jan 23rd and Feb 27th
- Actively find ways to engage with other Christians. Form a prayer triplet. Pray with others
- Join a Gospel Community Group
- Come to church on a regular basis
- Look for opportunities to share the gospel…this could be practical help.
Week 5 in Jan 30th
- Pray for yourself and how you feel ask God to help you come to terms with issues in your life.
- Pray for others in the fellowship. (Ask an elder for a copy of the church prayer booklet)
- Pray for the people in your Chapel Road (Ask Sue for a road if you don’t have one)
- Be specific in what you ask God’s guidance over.
In order for this to work you need to pray and actively bring God into what you do.
